Are you a dedicated professional seeking a challenging role in fire protection? We are currently hiring for a dynamic position as an EMT and Firefighter at the City of Pearland, TX. About the Role

We are looking for skilled individuals to join our team as Firefighters/EMTs (Paramedic preferred) to enhance and lead key aspects of our Fire Department's daily operations. As a Firefighter/EMT, you will be responsible for providing emergency medical services and fighting fires in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide medical assistance as needed
  • Fight fires and maintain equipment in good working condition
  • Collaborate with other first responders to ensure effective response and communication
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License (Texas Driver's License will be required within 60 days of hire)
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Firefighter Certification, or IFSAC SEAL if from another state
  • Texas Department of State Health Services Emergency Medical Certification, or National Registry if from another state
Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive hourly rate of $24.78-$26.29 based on average hours worked (2756). Additionally, the city offers comprehensive benefits including dental, long-term disability protection, life insurance, and a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected for testing and hire based on their qualifications and preference. The selection process includes online behavioral assessments, written tests, physical agility tests, interviews, background investigations, NFPA physical and drug screens, and breathe alcohol screenings. Applicants must pass all phases to be considered for employment.
