Job Overview

We are seeking skilled Sign Language Interpreters to join our team at Sorenson Communications, a leading provider of Video Relay Service (VRS) and onsite interpreting services.

About the Role

This is a full-time opportunity for an interpreter to provide high-quality Sign-to-Voice and Voice-to-Sign interpreting services, connecting Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals with the hearing world. You will be working in a dynamic environment with a fast-paced schedule, requiring flexibility and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English with accuracy and professionalism
  • Maintain compliance with national, state, or local licensure and certification requirements, as applicable
  • Demonstrate adherence to Sorenson's standards, policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Accurately complete tasks, projects, and paperwork within approved guidelines
  • Possess the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet VRS industry demands

Requirements:

  • Ability to pass our required skills assessment
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred but not required)
  • Interpreter certification
  • At least 3 years' experience working as an interpreter (desired but not mandatory)
  • Basic technical issue troubleshooting skills
  • Dexterity to operate computer equipment and tools
