Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman's Elkton, MD facility. As a key member of our Propulsion Systems & Controls (PS&C) operating unit, you will be responsible for developing manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for various assemblies, equipment installations, processing, machining, and welding activities.

This role involves designing the sequence of operations and defining procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment, as well as other functions that influence product performance. You will adapt machine or equipment designs to align with factory and production conditions, integrate inspection and testing requirements into the production plan, and evaluate the performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to confirm their efficiency.

You will also provide engineering guidance on design concepts and specification requirements to optimize the use of equipment and manufacturing techniques. Additionally, you will lead and manage various welding projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards while coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess substantial experience in various engineering disciplines, including but not limited to welding engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and materials science. You must have hands-on experience in researching, designing, testing, analyzing, and validating mechanical engineering solutions, and demonstrate a solid grasp of professional engineering concepts and practices.

You should also exhibit comprehensive knowledge of welding and joining processes utilized in manufacturing, along with strategies for optimizing these processes to enhance efficiency and quality. Furthermore, you should showcase strong written communication skills, facilitating clear and effective documentation of welding processes, procedures, and technical reports.
