Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medication Aide to join our team at UTMB Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the safe administration of medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and report vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and collect specimens.
  • Perform and report Point of Care Testing.
  • Assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse/designee as indicated by the patient's plan of care.
  • Provide for patients' personal hygiene, including bathing, oral suctioning, and superficial wound care.
  • Assist with feeding and ambulation, positioning, and turning patients.
  • Ensure patient safety by assisting with restraints, safety precautions, and emergency procedures.
  • Interview incoming patients, complete receiving/screening forms, and inform nurses and physicians of patients with health problems.
  • Maintain statistical logs, perform psychiatric referrals and screening, and assist in maintaining a safe facility environment.
  • Distribute and document patients' medications, ensuring compliance with Title 40, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 95.
Requirements
  • High school or GED equivalent.
  • Current Texas Certified Medication Aide permit.
  • Ability to work under stress and cope with complex and changing activities.
Work Environment

Our work environment is located in a clean and safe medical facility within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate to extreme physical effort, including lifting materials, equipment, objects, and patients.

Security Clearance and Pre-Employment Testing

Security clearance is required, and pre-employment drug testing is also mandatory.
