About the Role:

Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services & Systems division is seeking a skilled Utility Protection and Control Technician to join their team. This position requires the ability to travel up to 100% of the time and work variable hours, including nights and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Utility Lead P&C Technician in overall technical oversight and documentation requirements, including work plans, isolation plans, and functional test plans.
  • Work around energized electrical equipment to perform testing and commissioning activities on reliability upgrades in energized transmission stations.
  • Develop isolation plans and procedures for the removal of existing equipment, such as protective relays, relay panels, and AC/DC panels.
  • Communicate technical information to non-technical personnel, educate customers, and present information to internal and external customers.
  • Assist with all aspects of testing of substation devices and equipment, including reading and verifying voltage and current inputs to relays and metering, trip testing, and functional verification of all control systems.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of utility substation relay testing experience or currently enrolled in a 2-year relay testing technical program with completion by January 2025.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver's license.
  • Submit to initial and periodic customer required background and drug screenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution and/or applicable military experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in utility substation electrical testing experience.
  • Transmission substation relay test experience.
  • Level 3 or 4 NETA or NICET certification.
