Leakage Survey Technician

Job Summary:
The Leakage Survey Technician is responsible for performing area leakage surveys to detect, pinpoint, grade, and classify gas leaks using electronic and manual testing equipment. This role requires minimal supervision and involves working in multiple operating locations.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform area leakage surveys on mains using mobile leakage survey vehicles.
- Conduct walking leakage surveys on services and mains using various leakage survey methods and detection equipment.
- Investigate leaks to determine precise location and classification, completing necessary paperwork and documentation.
- Create and maintain leakage survey reports and related documentation.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; a CDL may be required for certain positions/assignments.
- Minimum one year of natural gas operations experience performing all aspects of leakage surveys, including investigations and documentation.
- Basic map reading skills and ability to operate a computer, communication devices, power tools, and equipment.
- Ability to perform basic math functions and possess sound judgment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Overtime work includes weekends and holidays. May require flexible hours, including nights, based on business needs. Must travel to other divisions around the state, including overnight stays, to perform leak survey activities. Must work outdoors for extended periods and in hazardous traffic environments, using appropriate safety equipment.
Physical Demands/Requirements:- Ability to independently operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.
- Ability to independently enter/exit a motor vehicle as required during an eight-hour shift.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to grasp/handle small hand tools and other objects by applying pressure with fingers and palms.
- Ability to pull, push, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Correctable vision to 20/40.
- Average hearing loss not greater than 40 decibels in the better ear at frequencies of 500, 1000, and 2000 with or without a hearing aid.
- Ability to smell gas odorant in normal concentrations.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions by extending arms and hands in any direction with substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Ability to physically express ideas in writing.
- Ability to rotate and revolve body (twist) to face in another direction.
