Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant II to join our Multispecialty team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will provide exceptional patient care and administrative support to our physicians and surgeons.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical office support to physicians and surgeons, including patient care and administrative duties.
  • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms, assist with walking, transferring, and dressing, and collect and process specimens.
  • Assist physicians with various procedures, take vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and families.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities, including sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, and completing forms and requisitions.
  • Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
  • Inventory, order, and restock medical supplies as needed.
  • Set up examination rooms and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques.
  • Maintain logging systems for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, and sterilization processes.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies and dispose of them appropriately.
  • Assist in maintaining medical charts, including filing, op reports, test results, and home care forms.
  • May schedule surgeries/procedures, work with the Surgical Coordinator to verify times with patients, and prepare charts, pre-admissions, and consent forms as needed.
  • May perform proficient phlebotomy duties and appointment scheduling and registration for patients.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program from an approved school or equivalent training and experience
  • 2 years of Medical Assistant experience without the certificate program
  • Certified as Medical Assistant preferred
