Shipfitter - Experienced Tradesperson

We are a leading manufacturer of high-performance ships and submarines, seeking an experienced Shipfitter to join our team at General Dynamics Bath Iron Works.

Salary Range:

The estimated hourly salary for this position ranges from $28.88 to $32.08, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Description:

As a Shipfitter, you will be responsible for working with complex metal fabrication and installation tasks, including fabricating deck sections, grating assemblies, and critical foundations using sketches and drawings. You will also install machinery components, shafting equipment, ordinance foundations, exterior fittings, and railing using blueprints. Additionally, you will fabricate and install shell plating assemblies onto mock-ups and ensure accurate completion in accordance with drawings and accuracy control plans.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in metal fabrication or installation of steel and outfit items. You must also be able to read blueprints in detail and have experience working with metal, hand tools, and power tools. Furthermore, you must meet the requirements of the Shipfitter physical task analysis.
