Key Responsibilities

As a Highway Engineer, your contributions will include:
  • Developing and planning civil engineering designs for a diverse range of projects, including site layouts, grading, drainage, paving, and utility systems.
  • Conducting quantity take-offs and calculations.
  • Drafting specifications and preparing contract documents.
  • Executing complex tasks while applying judgment in the selection and adaptation of standard engineering methods.
  • Making critical decisions regarding design and engineering processes as necessary.
  • Acting as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on medium-sized projects, while project management is not the primary focus of this role.
  • Overseeing a small team of professionals and technicians as required.
  • Carrying out additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in general civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering software such as InRoads, Siteworks, Hecras, etc.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Prior experience with Cal Trans or local city projects (studies and design) is advantageous.
