Network Administrator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Administrator to join our team in Houston. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a cutting-edge technology stack.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain client network infrastructures to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Implement, configure, and troubleshoot Fortinet/FortiGate firewalls and other Fortinet technologies.
  • Monitor network performance and reliability, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
  • Conduct regular network assessments and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide advanced technical support for network-related issues, serving as the primary point of contact for escalations.
  • Collaborate with clients to design and implement customized network solutions that meet their specific needs.
  • Oversee and manage server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers.
  • Install, administer, and support Windows and Linux server environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Implement and manage storage solutions, backup systems, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure system security through the implementation and management of security measures, patches, and updates.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct regular maintenance, and optimize resources to improve efficiency.
  • Manage Active Directory, group policies, and user account administration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, providing top-tier support for escalations.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure system reliability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Lead IT projects from planning to execution, ensuring successful completion within scope and timelines.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Network Administrator and/or System Administrator in an MSP environment.
  • Extensive experience with Fortinet/FortiGate technologies, including firewalls, switches, and wireless solutions.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and security.
  • Proven track record of managing and supporting complex network and server infrastructures.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Proficiency with Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 7, 8.1, 10) and Windows Server Operating Systems (Windows Server 2008r2, 2012, 2012r2, 2016, 2019).
  • In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange (2010, 2013, 2016, 2019), and Office 365.
  • Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V virtualization technologies.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts including LAN/WAN, structure, and equipment.
  • Proficient in Remote Desktop and Terminal Server management.
  • Solid experience in server and desktop hardware troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in firewalls and network security.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Fortinet NSE, CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, RHCSA) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
