Physical Science Instructor Opportunity

St. Clair County Community College is seeking a skilled Physical Science Instructor to join their team on a part-time basis. As an adjunct faculty member, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise with students and contribute to the development of academic courses within the Physical Science program.

**Job Summary:**

This position involves designing and delivering instruction to students, as well as maintaining scheduled office hours and advising students. You will also participate in the development and improvement of academic courses, which may include a full range of undergraduate courses within the Physical Science program.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Teaching and Instruction: Prepare and deliver academic instruction, including developing syllabi, developing content, and administering assessments.
  • Maintaining Class Records: Maintain and submit necessary class records, including early alert and final grade reports, and attendance verification for financial aid compliance.
  • Student Support: Participate in student grade appeal procedures and observe college calendar.
  • Office Hours and Communication: Post and maintain conference hours and participate in assessment of student learning and assessment reporting according to the assessment plan.

**Requirements:**

  • Education: Master's Degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Geology, or Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in Physics, Chemistry, or Geology.
  • Teaching Experience: Teaching experience at the higher education level is preferred.
  • Credentials: All academic degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain good relationships with students, staff, and community members.

**Estimated Salary:** $631 per contact hour, with contact hours varying depending on course offerings.
