Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Art Studio Model to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As an Art Studio Model, you will be responsible for posing as a model for art students in various classes, including life drawing, life painting, and life sculpture.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a model, preferably in an art institution or college setting. You will need to be comfortable posing undraped for life drawing classes and have a good understanding of art concepts and what makes a good pose for artistic study.

Responsibilities
  • Pose as a model for art students in various classes, including life drawing, life painting, and life sculpture
  • Hold poses for extended periods, ranging from a few minutes to up to an hour, with breaks in between
  • Work under the guidance of the instructor to create poses that meet the educational objectives of the class
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a model, preferably in an art institution or college setting
  • Comfortable posing undraped for life drawing classes
  • Good understanding of art concepts and what makes a good pose for artistic study
  • Ability to hold various poses for extended periods without moving
  • Consistent availability for scheduled sessions
  • Ability to adapt to different artistic needs and directions from instructors
Working Conditions

Work typically takes place in art studios, which are designed for comfort and privacy during sessions.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience. The schedule will vary based on class schedules, with hours ranging from 3-6 hours per session. This is a short-term, temporary position, not to exceed 160 days and 960 hours per fiscal year. Employment is at-will and may be shortened or extended at any time due to departmental needs.
