As a Data Scientist Manager at BillionToOne, you will play a critical role in leading cross-functional teams, analyzing complex genetic data, and developing models that enhance our genetic testing products. You will work closely with bioinformatics, product development, and marketing teams to provide data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning, with experience working with large datasets from various sources.

This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong understanding of both scientific research and business fundamentals. The ideal candidate will have a Master's or PhD in a relevant field, advanced data manipulation skills in R or Python, proficiency in SQL, and experience working with various data formats. Additionally, this role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to inform decision-making and drive growth.

The successful candidate can expect a total compensation package of up to $265,000 per year, including a base pay range of $165,000 - $200,000 per year. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Develop and implement data strategies that support the company's genetic testing products and services for bioinformatics and commercial data goals.
  • Perform advanced data manipulation and analysis using R or Python, ensuring high-quality and reproducible results.
  • Retrieve, clean, and integrate data from disparate sources such as SQL databases, JSON, CSV, and XLSX files.
  • Conduct complex data analyses to inform business decisions, focusing on key metrics like revenue, profit, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, and cohort analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, finance, and operations, to provide data-driven insights and recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Master's or PhD in biological sciences, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using R or Python.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL for data retrieval and management.
  • Ability to retrieve and munge data from disparate sources and formats (e.g., SQL, JSON, CSV, XLSX).
  • Understanding of business fundamentals such as revenue, profit, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, and cohort analysis.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
