Staff Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Psychiatrist to join our team at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero. As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, clinical leadership, and primary care to patients. You will work closely with our medical staff to ensure the highest level of care and treatment for our patients.

• Perform psychiatric evaluations and provide clinical leadership
• Write orders for admission, transfer, discharge, medications, restraints, and seclusion
• Evaluate and document assaultive incidents and suicidal threats, attempts, and self-harm behaviors
• Communicate effectively in spoken and written language

To be eligible for this position, you must be retired from California State Civil Service in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. You must also possess the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners. Additionally, you must have one year of experience in the practice of psychiatry or completion of one year of an approved residency in psychiatry.
