Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Telecommunicator to join our team at Middlebury College. As a Telecommunicator, you will serve as the primary emergency contact, general information center, and message relay center for the campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate dispatch and deployment of Security and Facilities personnel
  • Monitor the alarm system, including the Keltron Fire & Burglar alarms, 911 emergency system, and Insight/HVAC systems
  • Manage the Card Access system, controlling lock and unlock of doors, access card distribution, and security cameras
  • Provide emergency liaison services for college groups traveling away from campus
  • Maintain a shift log of all activities and complete, update, and review databases and departmental documents
  • Utilize databases for documentation and retrieval of information, including temporary vehicle parking permits, medical parking permits, party registrations, and Language School guest housing
  • Manage key check-in/out for student activities, mountain club, Dining Services, Custodial Services, vendors, and VIP guests housing
  • Compile statistics on Public Safety work and respond to Public Safety email
Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required; an associate's degree is preferred
  • Computer knowledge and skills required, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Specialized and on-the-job training required; must maintain First Aid/CPR certification
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays, occasional long shifts, extra shifts, and overnight shifts
  • Must have good phone etiquette and the ability to work under short deadlines, exercise good judgment, and perform well under pressure
Working Conditions

The Telecommunicator will work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure, and must be able to stand for long periods of time occasionally and sit for long periods of time frequently.
