About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Coatings Quality Control Specialist to join our team at Pacific Shipyards International. As a key member of our coatings department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our coatings operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect coatings applied by coatings team members or subcontractors to ensure compliance with customer requirements, federal government, and NACE specifications.
  • Assist the Coatings Superintendent in ensuring all projects remain on schedule and sub-contractors adhere to PSI requirements.
  • Provide oversight of coatings/painting activity and visit worksites to conduct QA checks on work in progress.
  • Deliver paperwork and complete forms/reports as required.
  • Apply standards to maximize customer satisfaction and time-driven goals and eliminate re-work and missed deadlines/checkpoints.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial coatings QC settings is required.
  • Shipyard/ship repair/marine coatings experience is highly desirable.
  • NBPI, NACE CIP-1, or NACE CIP-2 certification is mandatory.
  • SSPC C7 and C14 certifications are preferred.
  • Knowledge of the marine industry and NAVSEA Standards is essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and scheduling software such as MS Project.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working outside in varying elements. A requirement for initial certification and re-certification (every five years) is required by a licensed physician or physician's assistant that verifies that the applicant is physically fit and free of debilitating illness and injury that could inhibit the individual from effectively performing the duties of a Coatings Inspector.

Qualifications:
  • Must show proof of legal right to work in the United States.
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites.
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins.
  • Valid State of Hawaii drivers' license in good standing, class 3 or higher.
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift.
