Medical Unit Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Unit Assistant to join our team at WellSpan Health. As a key member of our care delivery team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support services to our patients and families.
Responsibilities- Provide General Nursing Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, and positioning.
- Assist with Patient Transportation: Prepare and transport patients for tests, procedures, and other medical appointments.
- Monitor Patient Condition: Report changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare team members.
- Maintain a Safe Environment: Ensure patient rooms, nursing areas, and supply carts are stocked with necessary items.
- Communicate Effectively: Answer telephone calls, respond to intercom messages, and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Enter and Retrieve Data: Use computer applications to enter and retrieve patient data, including patient management, census, and acuity information.
- Transcribe Orders: Transcribe physician orders and document them in the patient's medical record.
- Schedule Patient Services: Schedule tests, procedures, and other patient services as needed.
- Education: Certificate program in post-high school vocational/specialized training.
- Experience: Less than 1 year of relevant experience.
- Licenses: Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
