Wine Captain Job Description

Bar Vinazo is seeking a skilled Wine Captain to join our team. As a Wine Captain, you will be responsible for managing the wine program, including ordering, receiving, and stocking wines, as well as providing exceptional customer service and education to our guests.

Responsibilities:
  • Admin and Cellar Organization Shifts:
    • Order wines for by-the-bottle and by-the-glass lists, and set up tastings and inform management of tasting schedule.
    • Recommend wines for the list, to be approved by management.
    • Receive and stock wines, and maintain the cellar map.
    • Manage inventory, including daily BTG inventory and monthly inventory on the 1st of the month.
  • Wine Captain Shifts:
    • Provide wine education to the team on wines and list changes.
    • Assist team members in recommending wine and provide sommelier service throughout the shift.
    • Assist management with SOPs and training new staff members.
    • Have availability to cover for call-outs and ensure service runs smoothly when management is not on site.
