Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our radiation oncology team. As a Radiation Oncology Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and providing exceptional support to our patients receiving various forms of radiation therapy.

Responsibilities
  • Provide care for patients receiving external beam radiation, including stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and internal radiation sources, such as high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy and low dose rate (LDR) brachytherapy.
  • Educate patients and family members on radiation treatments and side effects for a wide variety of cancers, including gynecological, skin, prostate, breast, brain, and other cancers.
  • Work closely with nurses, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, physicists, and radiation oncologists to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and execute patient care plans related to radiation oncology care.
  • Utilize computerized documentation systems to monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License
  • 1 year of oncology or radiation oncology nursing experience in a clinic and/or acute care hospital setting preferred
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification
  • Current certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred
