Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Surgical Charge Nurse Lead to join our team at Carondelet St. Marys Hospital.

The successful candidate will assist the nurse manager/director in coordinating, directing, and evaluating patient care, unit activities, and staff performance on an assigned shift.

This role requires knowledge of the nursing process and professional standards of nursing in daily practice, applying knowledge of patient requirements, growth, and development to effectively make assignments and interventions.

The Charge Nurse Lead facilitates the provision of consistent care based on changing needs of patients on the unit, managing clinical and non-clinical activities in the absence of the unit manager/director.

This position coordinates all unit activities for smooth operation in the absence of the unit manager/director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Supports, evaluates, prioritizes, and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shifts.
  • Unit Operations: Serves as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence, makes assignments for staff to meet patient care needs, and delegates unit-specific task assignments to ensure patient care and unit needs are met.
  • Communication: Demonstrates timely and effective communication skills in daily interactions with team members and others.
  • Performance Improvement: Seeks to proactively improve quality of services provided and patient care outcomes, serves as unit champion and resource to staff for quality and patient safety initiatives and issues.
  • Leadership: Effectively uses change management methods to support improvement activities, serves as role model for exceptional customer service, and facilitates and actively participates in service recovery efforts during the shift on the unit.
  • Talent Development: Improves job performance of staff by assisting in personal and professional development through preceptor training and role modeling for care delivery and desired behaviors.
Requirements:
  • Certifications: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, valid current Arizona Nursing License, required certifications in area of clinical specialty within 3 years from ANCC or other approved credentialing entity.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience required, 1 year of ICU experience preferred (Neuro ICU experience desirable).
  • Skills: Basic computer skills, use of general patient care equipment and communication equipment, ability to adapt to changes in healthcare technology and support others in transition and learning.
Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $70,000-$120,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
