Job Title: Strategic Communications Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Strategic Communications Director to lead our Communications team at the Department of Family and Protective Services. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that promotes the agency's mission and priorities. You will oversee the creation and dissemination of internal and external communications, including media relations, social media, and public awareness campaigns.

Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement a strategic communications plan that aligns with the agency's goals and objectives
* Provide guidance and support to agency executives and staff on communications matters
* Oversee the creation and dissemination of internal and external communications, including news releases, media advisories, and social media posts
* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media representatives, community leaders, and advocacy groups
* Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of communications efforts and make recommendations for improvement
* Supervise a team of communications professionals, including writers, designers, and social media specialists

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
* 10+ years of experience in communications, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
* Proven track record of developing and implementing effective communications strategies
* Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
* Strong leadership and management skills, with experience supervising a team of communications professionals
* Familiarity with social media platforms and ability to develop and implement social media strategies
* Experience working with media representatives and developing media relations strategies
* Knowledge of accessibility standards and ability to ensure that communications materials are accessible to all audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
* Experience working in a government agency or non-profit organization
* Knowledge of crisis communications and experience developing crisis communications plans
* Experience working with key stakeholders, including community leaders and advocacy groups

Salary: $123,240 - $155,250 per year

Location: Austin, TX

Note: The salary range is based on the location and the job title, and may vary depending on individual qualifications and experience.
