Senior Sustainability Engineer

Southwire Company, LLC is a leading manufacturer of wire and cable products, committed to innovation and environmental stewardship. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Sustainability Engineer to drive cost-effective and environmentally responsible solutions.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of our company's sustainability strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with our company's values and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical project reviews and design assessments to optimize industrial manufacturing infrastructure systems, including boiler/steam/hot water systems, chilled water systems, potable water systems, compressed air systems, and HVAC.
  • Develop and execute engineering assessments, including life cycle costs, sustainability metrics, and best value options analysis, to inform capital project decisions.
  • Identify and implement cost-effective sustainable design solutions and customer value opportunities from the concept phase of capital projects.
  • Partner with site leaders to create and revise equipment standards, specifications, RFPs, and system selection criteria.
  • Provide engineering expertise for brown and greenfield site expansions, deploying Southwire's sustainability design guidelines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver value to customers, connecting and building strength with other functions, including corporate engineering, operations, and EHS.
  • Develop and manage capital projects from concept to execution, including financial acumen and bid documents/processes.
  • Create utility roadmaps and site masterplans for all plant locations.
  • Lead vertical start-ups and related processes, promoting health and safety in all aspects of work and including environmental considerations in decision-making.
Requirements

Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Years of Experience: 10+ years in industrial/manufacturing, utilities design experience.

Preferred Education Level: Master's degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Experience: 15+ years in industrial/manufacturing plant experience.

Preferred Skills: Utilities design and optimization, HVAC systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, compressed air systems, monitoring and control systems, pumping, wastewater treatment, and water treatment.

Preferred Certifications: Professional Engineer, LEED certification.
