We are seeking a highly skilled BMET Technician to join our team at Trinity Health. As a BMET Technician, you will be responsible for providing planned maintenance, safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, and routine and emergency service to general diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform planned maintenance procedures on multiple types of general and specialized clinical equipment.
- Conduct corrective maintenance procedures, including diagnosing problems using thermodynamic, electronic/electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or other related sciences.
- Notify equipment users and Clinical Engineering Management of repair status and delays as necessary.
- Interact with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems in scheduling and completing maintenance procedures.
- Determine the need for replacement parts and supplies, select the most cost-effective source, and submit properly completed parts requests.
- Promote teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision-making, and working to accomplish team objectives and projects.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws/regulations, as well as other policies and procedures.
- Associate's degree in medical electronics, electronic technology, or a related field, including comparable military training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to two years of experience performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical equipment per policy.
- Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Working knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field.
- Ability to train CE associates on the use and application of select test equipment.
- Knowledge and understanding of OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, EOC, FDA, and other specific regulations and standards pertaining to clinical equipment service and repair.
The BMET Technician will work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. The technician must be able to work in a hazardous environment, including electrocution potentials, mechanical energies, bloodborne/airborne pathogens, dust, and inclement weather.
The technician must also be able to travel to various Trinity Health, Ministry Organizations, subsidiaries, and/or training facilities.
