About Our Location

Gaylord, Minnesota, home to Michael Foods' manufacturing facility, is located in south-central Minnesota, about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the county seat, Gaylord serves as the 'Hub of Sibley County.' Our location produces a range of liquid and hard-cooked egg products, including scrambled eggs, patties, and omelets.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Operations Manager to oversee the daily operation of our maintenance department on nights. The successful candidate will interface with production supervisors, leads, and operators to identify issues affecting production equipment performance. Responsibilities include coordinating repairs, labor, and resources, requisitioning repair parts, scheduling non-union labor for routine and overtime work, approving vacation and PPT requests, and providing reviews of direct staff.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees by adhering to safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety and health into all jobs and tasks, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise a maintenance crew and oversee the operation of boiler and refrigeration equipment.
  • Be responsible for forklift maintenance, troubleshoot problems with equipment, and provide a safe work environment for employees.
  • Recognize and address operating problems to minimize their impact on operations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including timecards, downtime records, absentee records, etc.
  • Enforce company policies fairly and consistently.
  • Cultivate suggestions from employees to improve production, quality, safety, and control costs.
  • Keep management informed of operating and employee problems requiring attention.
  • Effectively communicate relevant information to employees on shift and to incoming employees at shift change.
  • Communicate process inefficiencies, equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and GMP issues to the production supervisor and sanitation supervisor.
  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout the department according to the daily sanitation checklist.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Management or Engineering, or 3+ years of maintenance experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of maintenance management experience.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred.

You should also have knowledge of basic mechanics, welding, electrical, fabrication, preventative maintenance, plant operations, government environmental and safety regulations, refrigerated foods processing and packaging, food safety and sanitation principles (GMP, SQF), state and federal rules and regulations (USDA, FDA, OSHA, etc.), and plant operations and production scheduling.
