Job Title: Environmental Monitoring Specialist

An exciting opportunity to join the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority as an Environmental Monitoring Specialist.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to perform sampling, flow measurements, and dye testing for various types of samples. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Sampling Associate and indirect supervision of the Program Manager - Monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collects samples from industries, sewer lines, treatment plants, septage sites, sanitary landfills, beaches, and other sites to determine compliance with Federal, State, and MWRA regulations.
  • Generates reports of sampling activities and maintains sampling equipment as needed.
  • Cleans and maintains the field facility area in Chelsea as required.
  • Maintains inventory of monitoring equipment and supplies in assigned vans.
  • Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) as developed by the Senior Sampling Associates and the Program Manager - Monitoring.
  • Assists Senior Sampling Associates with writing SOPs.
  • Mandatory On Call Sampler for after-hours sampling in a rotation with other Sampling Associates.
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science or a related field. Additionally, you should have one year of experience performing environmental sampling or laboratory work using similar equipment.

Benefits:

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary of $65,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
