Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all procurement-related activities, including third-party contract manufacturers and tollers. This role requires strong communication and people management skills, as well as the ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities.
- Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance.
- Negotiate and execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed for critical business needs.
- Manage material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level for production schedules and on-time customer deliveries.
- Strategically develop and implement commodity/supply chain strategies to deliver maximum value, leverage, and standardization.
- Manage all activities that develop relationships with suppliers.
- Develop an overall vendor base that creates and sustains a competitive advantage, utilizing global market opportunities, leveraging spend, and leveraging of technologies.
- Manage materials savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Active driver's license.
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent.
- Purchasing experience in the chemical industry.
- Willingness to travel 10-12 times annually (within the US).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong people management skills.
- 5+ years of experience in a strategic procurement position specific to chemicals and raw materials.
- Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of chemicals and chemical applications.
- General knowledge of regulatory rules and guidelines for chemicals (EPA, FDA, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience working with 3rd party contract manufacturers/tollers.
