Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced CT Scan Technologist to join our team in Perth Amboy, NJ. The ideal candidate will have at least six months of experience in CT scanning and be certified in diagnostic radiography.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex CT procedures and assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
  • Review and obtain patient clinical history for procedures, ensuring information is documented in the PACS system.
  • Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patients and/or family members, and scan into EPIC.
  • Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Verify the appropriateness of the exam and coordinate with physicians if additional information or a new prescription is needed.
  • Account for verifying insurance authorized exam scripts and communicate with Finance for insurance re-verification.
  • Acquire and schedule outside studies in EPIC for Radiologists' comparison and provide exam copies to patients and requesting physicians.
  • Evaluate radiographs using the PACS System to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value.
  • Gather and assess relevant information from medical records to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety.
  • Prepare patients for scanning by using appropriate techniques for shielding and immobilization.
  • Determine the appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered and provide accurate explanations at a level the patient can understand.
  • Document patient questions and concerns regarding procedures and perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance as needed.
  • Monitor the patient's physical condition for any adverse reactions during procedures.
  • Maintain scheduled shifts with no on-call, holiday, or weekend requirements, ensuring quality patient care.
  • Comply with Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality policies, and adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Identify and meet the diverse needs of the patient population, including communication adjustments for language, hearing, or visual impairments.
Required Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and qualified CT Scan Technologist who meets the following requirements:

  • At least six months of experience in CT scanning.
  • Certified in diagnostic radiography.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, radiological positioning, PACS system, and radiation safety.
