Job Summary:

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Programs Manager to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of assigned University programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality programs to faculty and staff, as well as providing guidance and mentorship to program staff to encourage talent development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and train a team dedicated to supporting the CFAR Developmental Core, providing guidance and mentorship, preparing and evaluating staff performance reports, and taking human resources actions as needed.
  • Use situational leadership and conflict management techniques to answer staff inquiries, resolve employee conflicts, address performance issues, and manage program operations for the Developmental Core.
  • Manage grant applications and research support, core initiatives, student services and relations, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization.
  • Assist with development initiatives, including serving as a liaison between development and high-ranking individuals inside and outside the University, and maintain the core website, including reviewing, writing, and updating content.
  • Act as liaison with University government affairs office and monitor expenditure compliance of accounts within Federal, State, and Institutional guidelines.
  • Prepare Developmental Core travel preparations and reimbursements for conference/training coordination.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, preferably in biosciences and academic settings, with an MBA being a plus.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, including setting agendas for project coordination, promoting interdepartmental participation, developing milestones and outcomes measures, and coordinating research projects that bring together researchers with different research backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of grant practices and procedures, time management skills, and business and management principles.
