Job Summary

As a Field Service Technician with Texas First Rentals, LLC, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools. This role requires a high degree of independent judgment and the ability to communicate effectively with customers to diagnose and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advises customers on problem areas and recommends repair solutions, gaining approval and ordering necessary parts to complete repairs efficiently.
  • Prepares equipment for service work, utilizing proper safety procedures to avoid injury.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer's specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling.
  • Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components.
  • Maintains good customer relations and support, communicating customer needs to shop management.
  • Plans and controls the cost of repair jobs.
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return.
  • Maintains company equipment, keeping it in good, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Works safely at all times, adhering to all applicable safety policies and complying with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, such as ProTech Technician Training Paths.

Requirements:

  • More than eight years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred.
  • High school/equivalent diploma or trade school diploma preferred.
  • Knowledge of dirt-engaging equipment, aerial, and lifting equipment.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Work Environment:

  • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Noise level may be loud at times.
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
  • Significant time spent in confined spaces and high places.
