About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Archaeologist to support our projects in the Pacific and Northwest Regions.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will serve as an archaeologist for assigned projects, conduct cultural resources inventory, document archaeological sites, and evaluate resources for National Register of Historic Places eligibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Class III (intensive pedestrian) cultural resources inventory
  • Document archaeological sites and isolated finds/integrated finds
  • Evaluate resources for NRHP-eligibility
  • Cultural desktop reviews and pre-field literature reviews
  • Background and archival research
  • Deliverables coordination and reviews
  • Deliverables submissions to agencies
  • Proposal writing and budgeting
  • Write monitoring and DPR 523 forms with minimal errors
  • Follow instruction and make adjustments when provided feedback
Requirements
  • Crew Member - minimum 2 years of college-level coursework and completion of a field school
  • Crew Chief - bachelor's degree, completion of a field school, and 1 year of professional experience
  • Ability to be listed on agency permits as Field Technician/Monitor
  • Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in the designated region
  • Proficient in documenting archaeological sites and IOs/IFs in the designated region
  • Survey an average of 30 acres/5 miles per day
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in using tablets (Apple iPad or Samsung Galaxy) to document cultural resources
  • Proficiency with sub-meter GPS receiver
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications
  • Previous NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainings
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $24 - $33 per hour, based on relevant experience.
