The Commercial Construction Technician position is available at Insight LLC, a leading provider of utility services in the Washington DC Metro area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting commercial construction projects and contributing to the company's success.

  • Operate and maintain vacuum trucks, air compressors, and heavy power tools, ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
  • Locate underground utilities using air vacuum excavation and document findings, including depth, material, and condition.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Represent Insight LLC professionally when interacting with customers or residents in the field.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by superiors.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ability to drive a manual transmission medium-duty truck.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug test.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to read a map and follow GPS directions.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in operating hand tools and power tools.
  • Experience with utility locating and construction site work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Good driving record.
  • Willingness to work nights, overtime, or out-of-town as needed.
  • Commitment to performing duties safely and in accordance with instructions from superiors.

Physical Demands

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Carrying 3-5 lb. electronic locating equipment for extended periods.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools.
  • Reaching overhead and horizontally.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds (frequently) and up to 100 pounds (occasionally).
  • Sitting (occasionally) and climbing stairs (occasionally).
  • Running (rarely).

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position, as defined by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), and requires adherence to established work rules and DOT regulations regarding drug and alcohol misuse.
