About the Role

James Madison University is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our Sports Medicine team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing top-notch athletic healthcare services to our student-athletes, particularly those on the Women's Lacrosse team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and coordinate athletic healthcare services to student-athletes, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Ensure emergency readiness at all practices and competitions, adhering to our Emergency Action Plan.
  • Engage in effective communication with coaching staff, strength and conditioning staff, sports medicine staff, and athletic administration.
  • Contribute to a team effort by welcoming new work requirements and exploring opportunities to enhance services.
  • Assist with scheduling, organization, and completion of student-athlete pre-participation and exit physical examinations.
  • Coordinate timely referrals and communications with JMU Team Physicians regarding student-athlete injuries and medical conditions.
  • Provide coverage for practices, strength/conditioning sessions, and competitions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Counsel and educate student-athletes regarding their injuries and treatment plans.
  • Serve as a clinical preceptor to athletic training students.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, Conference, NCAA, and Commonwealth of Virginia regulations.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Hold BOC certification, have a Virginia license to practice Athletic Training, or be eligible for licensure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multiple parties within the athletic department and campus community.
  • NCAA experience with lacrosse and/or Olympic sports.
