Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Traffic Signs Specialist to join our team at Brevard County. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform experienced service work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices.
  • Maintain warehouse inventory and material receiving operations as a sign warehouse technician.
  • Work with and be cross-trained by the Traffic Sign Fabrication staff.
  • Provide technical oversight to other Traffic Signs & Marking staff.

Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of experience in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and/or pavement markings.
  • Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Special Requirements:

  • Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
  • Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
  • Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I Signs and Markings certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
  • Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, a valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Signs and Marking certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment.
  • Must be able to successfully complete within six (6) months of employment, an OSHA-compliant forklift training class, which meets the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.178 and be able to safely operate a forklift.
  • Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime and be able to respond to emergency calls on a rotational basis twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
