Design Engineer for HVAC Systems

AHA Consulting Engineers is seeking a skilled Design Engineer for HVAC Systems to join our team in Boston or Burlington offices.

The successful candidate will prepare engineering design concepts for HVAC building systems for moderately complex assignments.

Project types include Corporate, Academic, Science & Technology, Industrial, Mission Critical Civic & Entertainment, Healthcare, Historic Preservation & Adaptive Reuse and Mixed Use.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing mechanical / HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping and layout of devices
  • Making calculations using engineering formulas such as heating and cooling loads and equipment sizing
  • Consulting with Lead Engineer, preparing engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyzing operation of existing systems
  • Researching equipment selection from catalogs, under direction of engineer
  • Possessing general understanding of applicable building codes, consulting with engineer regarding building code requirements
  • Participating and developing company design production standards
  • Promoting and using company design production standards
  • Handling multiple projects with efficiency and accuracy

Requirements include:

  • Associates degree or equivalent technical training/certification
  • One year experience with HVAC design at an MEP firm
  • Revit skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical system design
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical concepts
  • Bachelors degree (BSME or BSMET) or equivalent technical training/certification
  • Recent College Graduate or One to Three years experience in engineering environment or equivalent field of operation
  • Engineer-in-training
  • Skillful use and understanding of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills and use of Microsoft Office Teams
