Job Summary:

The City of Sevierville is seeking a highly skilled Firefighter - Emergency Response Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Fire Department, you will be responsible for responding to emergency situations, providing medical services, and conducting daily training and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to fires and other emergencies, providing life-saving procedures and transferring victims for emergency care.
  • Fight fires, provide emergency medical care, and take actions to mitigate other situations such as natural disasters, hazardous spills, or other dangerous conditions.
  • Perform salvage operations, including sweeping water, removing debris, and placing smoke ejectors.
  • Make inspections of apparatus and equipment, notifying supervisors of defects.
  • Assist with fire prevention inspections and planning for fire and other emergency operations.
  • Perform routine tasks, such as record keeping, supplies maintenance, faxing, phoning, and copying.
  • Attend continuing education or in-service instruction in firefighting methods, equipment operation, rescue procedures, hazardous materials mitigation, medical services, and related subjects.

Requirements:

  • Heavy work involving more than 100 pounds of force on a regular and reoccurring basis, more than 168 pounds in a rescue situation.
  • Exceptional talent and skill in operating machinery, tools, and specialized equipment.
