About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Wireless Communications Engineer to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our comms engineering group, you will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative wireless communication systems for specialized applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and develop new technologies to address evolving threats and challenges in wireless communications
  • Design, develop, and test software/hardware prototypes of novel signal processing approaches
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate wireless communication systems into operational prototypes

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  2. Master's degree in one of the same fields with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  3. Proficiency in communication theory and digital signal processing (DSP), with foundational knowledge of physical, data link, or media access layers of communications systems
  4. Experience in modeling and simulation of the physical layer using MATLAB, Python, or other languages

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in commercial and/or government communication engineering
  • Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end RF system design
  • Familiarity with geolocation, detection and estimation theory, RF hardware, waveform design, or antenna design
  • Recent knowledge of DoD and/or intelligence community, sponsors, and programs
