Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000, based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week. A tax-free stipend will also be provided.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing expert care to patients undergoing nuclear medicine procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients, ensuring correct dosage and safe handling.
• Monitor patients during the administration process, checking for any immediate adverse reactions or complications.
• Ensure proper disposal of radioactive materials in accordance with safety protocols.
• Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT scanners.
• Perform diagnostic imaging tests to capture detailed images of organs, tissues, and bones for disease detection.
• Position patients correctly for optimal imaging results, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Adjust imaging equipment settings to obtain clear, accurate, and high-quality diagnostic images.
• Explain imaging procedures to patients, alleviating concerns and ensuring understanding of the process, risks, and benefits.
• Verify patient identity and medical history to ensure appropriate radiopharmaceutical use and test procedures.
• Prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring they are in the proper position and assisting with physical support as needed.
• Review images to ensure diagnostic quality, and label and document each test performed accurately.
• Assist physicians and radiologists by providing preliminary image analysis, noting abnormalities or relevant findings.
• Maintain accurate patient records, including patient history, test results, and imaging reports, in compliance with hospital or facility protocols.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of nuclear medicine imaging equipment, ensuring proper function and safety.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to imaging equipment or radiopharmaceuticals.
• Ensure that all equipment and facilities meet safety standards, particularly in handling radioactive materials, to minimize risk to patients and staff.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
• A degree in nuclear medicine technology or a related field
• Current certification as a nuclear medicine technologist (NMTCB) or registered technologist (ARRT)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with nuclear medicine imaging equipment and procedures
