Water Systems Control and Automation Expert

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our team in Los Angeles, California.
About the RoleThis is a unique opportunity to take a leadership role in the technical design and construction of standalone automation systems as well as large, multidiscipline projects. You will work in a collaborative environment to evaluate and design control system solutions that meet client needs, while leading complex SCADA projects and providing I&C leadership across various multidiscipline teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Project and task management, overseeing budgets and delivery schedules to ensure successful and timely completion of assignments.
- Preparation of technical documents, including technical memorandums, SCADA system architectures, communications system designs, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA network diagrams, process control functional narratives, specifications, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, and other I&C design documents.
- Coordination with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers assigned to each project, providing engineering services during construction, reviewing equipment and software submittals, shop drawings, and responding to contractor RFIs (requests for information).
- Conducting field inspections during construction, monitoring safety compliance, and performing general quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of completed work.
To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor's degree in electrical or controls engineering or a closely related field, along with at least 15 years of experience in I&C, automation, and SCADA system design and implementation, particularly in the water and wastewater market. A Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of joining is required.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Experience in applying instrumentation and controls to process and electromechanical equipment, and in designing and specifying SCADA HMI and PLC hardware and software systems.
- Experience with industrial network design and implementation, as well as designing communications networks to support SCADA systems.
- A background in water/wastewater process control and familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook).
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record with the ability to travel up to 25%.
Arcadis offers a competitive salary range of $112,240 - $168,360 per year, paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year, medical, dental, and vision benefits, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement.
The estimated salary for this position in Los Angeles, California is around $145,000 per year, based on industry standards and cost of living.
