National Disability Rights Network Director of Policy and Community Engagement

The National Disability Rights Network seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Policy and Community Engagement to join our team.
This is a full-time, exempt position located at one of our four Florida offices (Tallahassee, Gainesville, Tampa, or Ft. Lauderdale).
Key Responsibilities:
- Programmatic and Operational Oversight: Collaborate with the Leadership Team to ensure organizational goals are met, including coordination with other directors and staff to develop strategic plans and work plans.
- Rights Enforcement: Lead the enforcement of rights for individuals with disabilities through organizational leadership and personal effort, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Organizational Structure: Establish and maintain an effective organizational structure to address complaints and violations of rights made by or on behalf of clients.
- Community Outreach: Develop and coordinate community outreach and educational opportunities for legislators and leaders of state executive branch agencies on organizational priorities, particularly education and transition for youth with disabilities.
- Staff Training and Guidance: Provide high-quality legal and advocacy representation through staff training, guidance, and enforcing professional accountability.
- Litigation and Policy Development: Monitor trends in litigation and policy development, communicate legal advice effectively, and act in accordance with the code of professional conduct and ethics.
- Reporting and Compliance: Prepare comprehensive reports on legal and advocacy accomplishments for the Board of Directors, PAIMI Advisory Council, and other stakeholders.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete accurate and timely administrative reports, manage resources, and ensure staff compliance with fiscal and human resource policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Expertise in disability law, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Government clearance from the United States Government Office of Personal Management required; applicants without clearance will be considered, but continued employment depends on obtaining clearance.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, valuing individual differences and respecting cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to civil rights and civil liberties consistent with the mission of the National Disability Rights Network.
- Proven leadership skills, management principles, and strategic planning experience, along with organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Federal and state court experience, including client contact, complex motion or appellate practice, and significant litigation through jury or non-jury trial.
- J.D. Law Degree, Member of the Florida Bar, and all federal district bars in Florida within six months of appointment.
- Minimum of five years of legal management experience.
Salary Information: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
