About the Role


This is a challenging and rewarding position where you will provide professional mental health treatment services for individuals with severe mental disorders in in-patient or out-patient settings. You will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, non-medical psychotherapy, and initiation of involuntary holds. Your expertise will be used to prepare reports and maintain accurate records related to patient or client services.


Key Responsibilities



  1. Provide direct mental health treatment services to individuals with severe mental disorders.
  2. Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients.
  3. Conduct crisis intervention and provide individual and group counseling.
  4. Initiate involuntary holds and develop non-medical psychotherapy plans.
  5. Prepare reports and maintain accurate records related to patient or client services.

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A Master's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a mental health related field.
  • Two years of post-Master's degree supervised experience in a mental health related setting providing direct services to mentally or emotionally disabled persons.
  • Current certification of training in CPR and a valid Class C California Driver License (or the ability to arrange for field travel).
  • Many positions require current licensure by the State of California to practice as a marriage, family and child counselor (MFT), clinical social worker (LCSW), clinical psychologist, registered nurse, or psychiatrist.
