Job Summary

Cornell University is seeking a skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician II to join our Small Animal Cardiology department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our faculty veterinarians in their teaching and research endeavors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for and assist with various cardiology exams, including preparing animals for diagnostic procedures and assisting with the care of hospitalized patients.
  • Assist with the centralization of messages from referring veterinarians and clients, including medication refill requests and lab work results.
  • Act as a liaison with other services to ensure efficient patient care and oversee the diagnostic workup of each patient.
  • Perform and educate veterinary students and house staff on blood sample collection, IV catheter placement, injections, blood pressure measurements, and 12-lead ECG recording.
  • Orient students on clinical cardiology rotation and provide guidance on clinical procedures.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology and NYS licensure with one to two years of experience as an LVT or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records of patients in both written and electronic form.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a professional manner at all times and utilize multiple computer programs as required.
  • Must be patient and have strong animal handling skills, with the ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
