Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Specialist to join our team at the City of Prineville, OR. The successful candidate will provide technical support and guidance to end-users, review and evaluate new technology, and protect city data through appropriate backup and virus protection strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and support to end-users
  • Review and evaluate new technology to determine its usefulness to the City
  • Protect city data through appropriate backup and virus protection strategies
  • Under direction of IT Manager and/or IT Operations Lead, purchase, setup, maintain, upgrade, diagnose, repair, and replace PC and LAN hardware
  • Under direction of IT Manager and/or IT Operations Lead design, develop, debug, document, and maintain software
  • Backup IT Manager and/or IT Operations Lead regarding maintenance of inventory of all computer hardware and of all software licenses
  • Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures, as necessary, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department
  • Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED recipient
  • Two years college degree or coursework in Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of two years' experience working with the Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Server and other electronic systems
  • Ability to diagnose, maintain, and troubleshoot PC hardware
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees
  • Proven ability in working effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong written communication, verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including field troubleshooting of various electronic systems
  • Efficiently prioritize assignments and allocation time; ability to work and thrive under limited supervision
