Park Maintenance Worker

This is a seasonal position in the City of New Haven's park maintenance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including operating light equipment, performing manual labor, and assisting with maintenance and repair of park facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate tractors, reels, and other grass-cutting equipment
- Perform manual labor tasks, such as raking leaves and picking up debris
- Assist with maintenance and repair of park facilities, including tennis courts and playground equipment
- Transport materials to and from job sites
- Perform other related tasks as required
Requirements:
- Graduation from high school
- Minimum of 3 months experience in the use of hand tools, power tools, and light equipment
- Ability to drive jeeps, trucks, and operate light equipment
- Ability to perform semi-skilled and unskilled labor tasks without close supervision
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- May be required to work in confined spaces or at heights
- May be required to lift heavy objects or work in physically demanding environments
Salary and Benefits:
- Starting salary: $18 per hour
- Returning seasonal employees may be eligible for up to $22 per hour
- No medical benefits, vacation pay, sick pay, union membership, or union contractual benefits
