Purchasing Operations Specialist

Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Operations Buyer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing Magna's Purchasing Operations Process, ensuring all targets, cost, quality, and delivery of the Division are achieved. The role will involve coordinating Purchasing Operations activities between suppliers and all areas of MPT & MPT-Ramos.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the Purchasing Operations function, optimizing cost while supporting Business Plan/Cost Mitigation Targets/Supplier Cost Recovery across all functional areas.
- Analyze quotes from suppliers, including cost claims from the current supply base, and prepare for management review at Division and Corporate levels.
- Prepare supplier quotes and detail data to analyze and develop a negotiation strategy.
- Present strategic supplier cost mitigation positions to the Senior Leadership Team, including options and recommended next steps.
- Negotiate the best possible price/outcome with suppliers, aligning with Business Plan and Program targets.
- Generate, distribute, and follow up on RFQs, as per the Global Purchasing Process.
- Work with Strategic Purchasing & Finance to track BOM cost vs. Annual BP, reporting as required.
- Support Materials function - supplier run out/inventory levels, interfacing with assigned supply base.
- Understand and explain part waterfall charts, supply charts, EDI data.
- Support Constraint Management function and Supplier Quality function.
- Assist in developing a strategic supply chain.
- Assist in analyzing new trends in market and technology.
- Organize Commercial and Technical savings workshops (VA/VE) with suppliers, in cooperation with Strategic Commodity Management and Supplier Quality Development or SQD.
- Track VA/VE activities and other savings roadmaps/status/implementation, reporting out as required.
- Support development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency, and reduce cost.
- Maintain supplier relationships that are both productive and mutually beneficial, continually searching for and renegotiating cost savings.
- Ensure suppliers respond appropriately, including issues of delivery, cost, or quality.
- Work cooperatively with peers to implement consistent policies, procedures, strategies, and reporting.
- Communicate necessary information to MPT management to assist in decision-making and strategy formulation.
- Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business.

- Assigns the highest priority to customer satisfaction and Program Management objectives while meeting commitments to achieve business objectives.
- Follows the guidelines and rules as set out by the Employee's Handbook and Company policies.
- Performs tasks and responsibilities detailed in MPT's IATF policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Complies with designated ISO/14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with MPT's Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Bachelor's Degree required with a business or technical emphasis.
- Strategic thinker and implementer of effective tactical plans.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in Purchasing or related field within a manufacturing facility.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent skills and experience in contract negotiation and price negotiation in a manufacturing environment.
- Travel will be required.
- 3-5 years of experience, relevant experience within the automotive industry preferred.
- SAP ERP experience desired but not mandatory.
