Job Summary:

The State of Maine, Bureau of Human Resources is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing carpentry, painting, and other general repair and maintenance work in state facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general carpentry work on interior and exterior structures to maintain and restore existing facilities.
  • Install, repair, and replace doors, windows, and other hardware to ensure security and proper function.
  • Remove, replace, and install floor and ceiling tiles to maintain and preserve floors and ceilings.
  • Mix and apply plaster to repair and maintain walls.
  • Paint walls, doors, and ceilings of office spaces and common areas.
  • Operate snow removal equipment to clear walks, driveways, and roads.
  • Perform safety checks on equipment and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, mechanical systems, and buildings.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices of the carpentry and painting trades.
  • Ability to perform all work independently and understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
