Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at Tyonek Native Corporation. As a Machinist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality parts using standard machining processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical principles and precision measurement tools.
  • Fabricate assemblies or subassemblies using machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
  • Measure and examine complete products to ensure they meet drawing and customer requirements.
  • Make adjustments to basic machine tools as needed, aligning and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Evaluate the machining process to ensure a safe working environment free from hazards.
  • Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn before commencing work.
Requirements
  • A High School diploma or equivalent and a trade school diploma in Machining/Machining Science.
  • 0-3 years of work experience.
  • The ability to operate equipment and systems used to produce machined products.
  • Monitoring gauges, dials, and/or other indicators to ensure proper machine operations.
  • Ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
  • Selecting the right tool for the job.
  • Producing product from engineering drawings.
  • Experience with precision measurement instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of raw materials used in the machining industry.
  • Inspecting the work area for potential safety hazards before starting work.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to walk, stand on level and/or inclined surfaces, and sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to climb/descend stairs regularly.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Routinely grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees, and reach above/below shoulders.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
