Store Operations Team Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Store Operations Team Lead to join our team at Whole Foods Market. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned.
You will lead and develop Team Members, ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. All positions must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Develops and maintains creative store layouts and product merchandising strategies to drive sales and customer engagement.
- Works closely with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, analyzing sales reports and labor data to inform decisions.
- Maintains advanced product knowledge, staying up-to-date on new products and services, and demonstrates expertise through training and mentoring Team Members.
- BUILDS AND MAINTAINS STRONG VENDOR RELATIONSHIPS, DEVELOPS NEW VENDOR PARTNERSHIPS, AND ENSURES PROPER PROCESSING OF VENDOR PAPERWORK.
- Resolves team concerns and issues, working collaboratively with the Team Leader to address conflicts and improve team dynamics.
- Serves as the point person and departmental leader in the absence of the Team Leader, making key decisions and taking charge of store operations.
- Demonstrates exceptional retail execution skills, setting and achieving high standards for customer service, visual merchandising, and store cleanliness.
- Fosters a positive work environment, promoting outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale among Team Members.
- Communicates and models the WFM vision and goals, ensuring that Team Members understand the importance of their roles in delivering excellent customer experiences.
- Monitors customer flows and needs, directing Team Members to provide timely and effective solutions, responding promptly to customer inquiries and concerns.
- Selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members to create a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
- Prior experience in retail leadership or management, preferably in a grocery or food service environment.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
- Growth mindset towards greater responsibility and ownership, with a desire to coach and mentor others for growth.
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
- Ability to teach others in a positive and constructive manner, using clear communication and coaching techniques.
- Product knowledge and understanding of regulatory policies and procedures.
- Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
