Houston, Texas, United States Horizon56 Full time

Job Role Overview

As a Digital Operations Engineer at Horizon56, you will play a key role in coaching end users, both operators and drilling contractors, to adapt to digital transformation offshore on the rig. This involves closely monitoring crew performance in the system and providing coaching as needed. You will ensure deployments are executed according to plan, and if necessary, discuss a way forward with the deployment team to initiate required support. Your role will involve deployments worldwide, requiring connections to multiple stakeholders. Experience with reporting from a previous drilling role is a plus, as digital reporting is a significant part of our work. Additionally, we value good communication skills, as coaching people from diverse cultures worldwide demands diplomatic and communicative skills, as well as a good portion of humility.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Train and coach personnel in the Horizon56 software
  • Onshore (typically at customer offices or onshore drilling facilities)
  • Offshore (typically at client platforms, rigs, or drillships)
  • Drive deployments with customers, in collaboration with the deployment team
  • Closely collaborate with offshore teams, software engineers, and technical personnel to coordinate deployment activities
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of training and coaching in deployment processes
  • Test and verify the functionality of new software products and releases

Required Qualifications and Experience

At Horizon56, we prioritize giving opportunities to the right people, so non-formal attitude, mindset, and potential are essential in our hiring process. For this role, we are looking for:

  • A background within the drilling industry as a driller, assistant driller, drilling engineer, or similar
  • A willingness to travel and work in offshore environments for extended periods
  • A proactive attitude
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • General competence in standard IT software applications (MS office package)
  • Articulate in English (both written and verbal)

Working Location and Working Hours

We are seeking candidates located in the US.

This role includes working a 1:1 offshore rotation, with periods of onshore work from home-office. Onshore and offshore periods will be dependent on the deployment plan and subject to change. When working onshore, you will earn vacation days as regular onshore employees.

About Us

Horizon56 is a fast-growing software company with ambition and energy. We develop and provide industry-leading software solutions that digitalize the Oil & Gas well construction process, aiming to revolutionize the drilling industry. We work with leading customers, including Equinor, Aker BP, Archer, Exxon, Noble, and more.
