The Government Audit Manager at RKL oversees the audit process, providing valuable insights in managing risk and improving operational performance. They are responsible for Associates' professional development and coaching, offering exceptional client service as a trusted business advisor.

  • Lead and supervise the execution of audit engagements, reviewing and auditing business transaction cycles.
  • Collaborate to plan engagement objectives and an audit strategy that complies with professional standards and addresses risk.
  • Understand the scope of the engagement and provide input on client retention and fee structure.
  • Participate in the presentation of client financial statements and audit results.
  • Produce and review quality service and statements in a timely manner.
  • Research audit issues and review financial information in audit software.
  • Read prior year financial statements and client website information to gain understanding of client operations and industry.
  • Proactively inform engagement team of work status and request information from client as needed.
  • Ensure client deliverables are met within expectations and set deadlines.
  • Identify and introduce other firm services based on client needs and discovered opportunities.
  • Supervise Associates and Interns on engagements, providing guidance on an ongoing basis.
  • Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues.
  • Participate in continuous learning activities and active research to improve and develop technical expertise.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 5+ years' experience in performing governmental audits.
  • Prior experience in coaching and training entry-level accounting professionals required.
  • Demonstrated ability to take the lead on client engagements.
  • Self-motivated and willingness to enhance accounting and advisory knowledge.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and exchange information with internal and external actors as needed.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel to local and non-local clients as needed, overnight travel may be required.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
