Mental Health Support Specialist

The Recovery Center of Kentucky is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide essential support and services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:- Client Support and Advocacy:
- Establish and maintain supportive, respectful relationships with clients.
- Assist clients in developing personal goals and strategies for achieving them.
- Advocate for clients' rights and access to necessary services and resources.
- Assessment and Planning:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' needs, strengths, and challenges.
- Collaborate with clients and other professionals to develop individualized support plans.
- Regularly review and update support plans to reflect clients' changing needs and progress.
- Skill Development:
- Provide guidance and support in developing daily living skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and personal care.
- Offer education and support in managing mental health symptoms and treatment adherence.
- Facilitate social skills training and community integration activities.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Respond to crises in a calm and effective manner, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Develop and implement crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
- Coordinate with emergency services and healthcare providers as necessary.
- Coordination of Services:
- Connect clients with community resources, such as housing, employment, and healthcare services.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social services, and other relevant organizations.
- Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, progress, and support plans.
- Prepare and submit reports as required by the organization and funding bodies.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Community Engagement:
- Promote awareness of mental health issues within the community.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Participate in outreach activities and community events.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field.
- Certification:
- Certification in mental health first aid, crisis intervention, or related training is an asset.
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with individuals with mental health challenges.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and crisis intervention skills.
- Understanding of mental health issues and community resources.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
